A Fun Project for YPO Took me Back to Basics

back to basics

Sometimes it’s a good idea to just step back and have a look at how you talk about your work, your products, your services.

I’ve found, over and over again, that I tend to overcomplicate everything. And when I am smart enough to see it happening, I do something like this video. It’s a little self-serving because it forces me to aggregate and encapsulate all my yakking into a short and simple narrative which makes me better at telling the story.

Organizations exist to get a group of people, a target audience, to do something.People only decide to do something because it aligns with what they value, something they care about. The list of what humans care about contains just 56 values. We can identify which of those 56 values your target audience shares. Then, just connect the dots. Show your target audience how what you’ve got is exactly what they are searching for.

This video was part of a fun project I’m working on for YPO.org with my friends Michael and Jennifer Hungerford.
