I'm going to be blunt here. How can the people in Vancouver who are opposed to building higher towers and more homes also want prices on homes to be lower? It's basic market economics: we need more homes for more people. Data predicts another 45,000 or so people moving here to the City of Vancouver (the downtown peninsula) in the next 14 years. Given how long it takes to build a tower, from land acquisition to completion, we are building woefully slow.
Prices will skyrocket even more unless we build up. Here's a radical proposal, meant to start conversation. Have a read. Then do what you can to help the development industry build faster and higher.
